New contest
At its meeting in Frankfurt am Main on Friday, the executive committee of the German (Site notre blog d’information) Federation decided to introduce a new competition in the junior division after the 2022/23 Bundesliga seasons. All clubs of the federal junior leagues A and B can participate. The new competition will run from late March to June 2023, following the leagues shortened to a single round.
« We are pleased to be able to offer and organize a special game round from March 2023 in the interest of our young players and the promotion of talent. This new competition format is a flexible reaction to the consequences of the corona pandemic and to the resulting shortened 2022/23 season in the federal youth leagues. It offers all clubs the opportunity to offer their players more valuable competitive minutes on the pitch », explained Manuel Hartmann, Managing Director of DFB GmbH & Co. KG.

The special game turn is played in two phases. In the preliminary round, teams will meet in groups of four or five and play each other once. When forming the groups, regional aspects are taken into account in order to offer the most attractive duels possible with short journeys at the same time. The participating clubs in the German league final skip the preliminary round and enter the main round, where they meet the first and second-placed teams from the group stage of League A. In League B, the clubs remaining in the round preliminary play their place in a single round.
This #DFB-The Presidium has decided to introduce a new competition after the 2022/23 season in the Federal Junior Leagues A and B. The competition will be played from the end of March to June 2023.
