They created their own club or took it over after a few years of break: discover their history, a few days before their first match, in the Coupe de France, this weekend.

For most, this is the start of a new season. For some, it’s downright a new life. If the National 2 was the first of the amateur championships to break the summer break a few days ago, the Coupe de France, whose first regional round is being played this weekend in Brittany, marks the popular kick-off of the Sunday (Site notre bureau spécialisé) season. And among the clubs involved, a handful will revive fame.

The goliaths of Argol, ten years later

The peaceful town of Argol, gateway to the Crozon peninsula (29), lost its last (Site notre bureau spécialisé) club ten years ago. More precise since the US Aulne, the fruit of an agreement with Landévennec and Trégarvan, bowed out at the start of the 2011-2012 season. But this summer, the goliaths of Argol FC have taken up the torch, with the creation of a new club (the only one of the summer in Finistère).

“The decision was made on a whim, at the end of June. I trained the Gas du Menez Hom, in Plomodiern (29), where I was not returned. Then as we progressed little by little in the project, we realized that it was possible: the place is quite central, the structures are good, the welcome from the town hall was warm, players were spontaneously recognized …”, explains Dominique Jaouen, secretary general of the club and partner of Nathalie Prigent, appointed president.

Today, the goliaths of Argol FC have around twenty licenses and are divided into the fourth district division. “The players are above this level, do not hide Dominique Jaouen, also coach of the first team. I have a group with many students who come from Brest, Châteaulin… Argol is a dynamic city, it lacked a (Site notre bureau spécialisé) club, the stoppage of the previous club must have been experienced as an injury ”.

Since the first friends, he observes people at the edge of the lawns, “everyone is quite content”, sums up the secretary. Apart, perhaps, from a few local clubs, seeing a new rival arrive. « Competition allows you to develop, you shouldn’t fear it », explains Dominque Jaouen. Sunday, at 3 p.m., the Ar’Goliaths return to competition against US Crozon-Morgat (D2), in the Coupe de France.

In Ploulec’h, « all you have to do is climb the levels! »

“We tried without really believing in it at first, then it worked… We went through the stages one after the other… You have to have a love of risk! A few months later, the Entente Sportive de Ploulec’h (D4) was reactivated.

At the end of the 2019-2020 season, the Costa Rican club hires this weekend, against AS Plestin (D1), for the first round of the Coupe de France, and the kickoff of its new adventure. A not very obvious draw, sportingly, for the men of Erwan Lettieri, player and president at the head of the project, and Daniel Fréville (coach), but the essential is elsewhere for his club.

“It takes time for everything to get going, for us to get to know each other. We want a nice little atmosphere, between colleagues, ”writes the president ploulec’hois. Erwan Lettieri is delighted to already have around twenty licensees: « there are a lot of D1 and D2 players in the team, we have former Servel-Lannion, the Tréméloir club, a lot of non-licensees and guys from Pluzunet. I think we have a mid-table level of D2. We are written to the District, in the Cup… All we have to do is climb the levels now! », Lives the former player of Saint-Brieuc or even Lamballe who does not hide his ambition of a direct rise in the third division of District at the end of the season.

If the Coupe de France officially kicks off the new version of ES Ploulec’h, it was during the first friendly match, in Pédernec, that the emotion rose for Erwan Lettieri. « It was super strong, » he concedes modestly.

The object so sporty once dressed, it remains for the president to attract volunteers, his mission considered the most complex so far. “I have been involved in (Site notre bureau spécialisé) since I was 6-7 years old, I have always been used to seeing volunteers at the (Site notre bureau spécialisé), but there, at the moment, it is really hard”, he regrets.

After two years of dormancy, the seniors of ESP will hire a senior team for the 2022-2023 season, with a group of players from the Lannion region.
