Martino’s successor
Diego Cocca leaves Tigres UANL after only five games in the current Clausura and becomes the new coach of the Mexican national team. This was officially announced by his club on Thursday, confirmation from the association is still pending. Cocca has only been in the job since the start of the year and succeeds Gerardo Martino in the national team, who left after being eliminated in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup.
In the 2021/22 season, Cocca won both the Apertura and the Clausura with Atlas Guadalajara but left the club after a disappointing Apertura in 2022, losing ten in 17 games. The Tigres’ successor will be former assistant coach Marco Antonio Ruiz.
