Fifth in the standings, two points from second place, AS Saint-Etienne is not where its leaders hoped to be at the start of the season. With all their power and efficiency, the Greens aspire to reestablish themselves in Ligue 1, and the current trend (five points in five matches) augurs a table that is favorable to them.
After the defeat in Reims (1-0), on a goal conceded at 11 against 10, Eirik Horneland is clearly in the hot seat. The would now be visible from a part of ASSE which is at the disposal of the successor.

According to L’Equipe, the Forézien club has made good progress in its search for a new coach. Two coaches are mainly targeted. Two experienced French technicians have established contact.
Which coach for the Greens?
The two men followed are Franck Haise and Philippe Montanier. They are both free, Haise recently (he left Nice at the end of December), Montanier for longer (he was ousted by Toulouse in 2023).
These two coaches also have the common point of having successfully moved up from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1, with Lens for Haise (arriving during the season), with Toulouse for Montanier. And soon with Saint-Etienne for one of the two?
