The Vedasian football club continues to grow

I was 70 years old, on January 26, 1973, at the age of Saint-Jean-de-Védas, which lost against about 3,000 inhabitants, (Site notre bureau spécialisé) enthusiasts created the RCV, or Racing club Védasien. A story very integrated into the life of the town, but also an anniversary with upcoming festivities which we will come back to shortly. This is therefore an opportunity to take stock of this sports association, one of the most important in the municipality, and to discuss its future with its president, Guilhem Sutra.

How is the club doing?

Be global. After the Covid years, which we took advantage of to restructure the club and redefine the objectives, this year there are 690 licensees, including a large majority of Védasiens, divided into 44 teams ranging from U6s to veterans. This involves a dynamic management team, recently renewed and expanded, and quality management. It is composed of 19 diplomas of educators who do not have 3 Bef, 4 Bmf and 3 in the process of certification.

What are the objects?

First, to create a club with the highest possible level of sports and offer players real prospects. You can also do it by walking through the (Site notre blog d’information) School (U6 – U11) or by crossing the organized stadiums. Today the results follow. Our U14s have just moved up to regional level, a first in 70 years, and our seniors are in regional 3. Then, let’s develop women’s (Site notre bureau spécialisé). We started three years ago. To date, the club is labeled FFF and has nearly 120 licenses and 6 teams. On the organizers moreover and the big women’s tournament called « Phoenix » from June 16 to 18. Finally, don’t forget leisure (Site notre bureau spécialisé) and the associative and educational part, such as our commitments to Unicef, Pink October or homework help, but also times for meeting and conviviality.

And the future?

With 690 licenses, we are practically in saturation and we can no longer meet growing demand. The most urgent thing would be to have additional locker rooms, particularly given the development of the women’s section. It also poses the management of the field, whether for training or for matches or rounds. We have two lighted synthetic ones but the grass field is no longer in good condition and is not lighted. The ideal would be as soon as possible that it is of the same nature as the others. We are working on it with the town hall and our partners because it is essential for the future of the club. Of course, this raises questions at the financial level but remains optimistic.
